Is Hungry Jack's Halal? 15 Melbourne Stores Say Yes

Hungry Jack's runs a limited halal certified menu at 15 Melbourne stores. Here's the official list and what the certificate actually covers.

This one surprises people, including us. Hungry Jack's runs halal certified menus at selected stores, and Melbourne has more of them than any other city in the country.

The short version: it's per-store, and it's a limited menu within those stores. Not the whole chain, not the whole menu.

What Hungry Jack's actually says

From the company's own FAQ page:

"Selected Hungry Jack's stores now serve a limited Halal certified menus at specific stores. All Halal certified products are listed on the individual restaurant's Halal certificate which is displayed instore."

Two details in there do a lot of work. Limited menu means the certificate covers particular products, not everything behind the counter. And displayed instore means the certificate is physically on the wall, so you can read it yourself rather than take anyone's word for it.

The Melbourne stores

Hungry Jack's lists 15 Victorian stores, as at 1 August 2026:

Altona North · Clyde North · Craigieburn · Craigieburn East · Dandenong · Deer Park · Fawkner · Fountain Gate · Greenvale · Hallam · Jacana · Roxburgh Park · Thomastown · Truganina · Wollert

That's more than New South Wales and the ACT combined. The list has also grown over time, with South Australia and the ACT added since earlier versions.

If you've seen a shorter Melbourne list elsewhere, it's probably out of date. Several widely-shared ones date back to 2019 and are missing five stores.

What the certificate doesn't cover

Bacon is on the national Hungry Jack's menu, in the Bacon Deluxe and Bacon & Cheese burgers among others. That's exactly why the wording is "limited halal certified menu" rather than "halal store".

So the certified items are certified. The store around them still handles pork. Read the certificate on the wall. It lists the products it applies to, which is the only thing that tells you what you can order.

Hungry Jack's also publishes a halal column in its official allergen guides, tracked item by item. If you want the detail before you leave home, that's where it lives.

Good to know: no certifier is named on the Hungry Jack's website. The certificate in store will name one, so it's worth a look while you're deciding.

Check it yourself

The official list is at hungryjacks.com.au on the FAQ page, under "Does Hungry Jack's offer Halal product?". Go there rather than to a blog list, ours included. Stores get added, and only the company's page keeps up.

Then read the certificate when you arrive. It's on the wall for a reason.
